[New Exhibit] Town Treasures: Black Migration Stories
PATA ALI LOVE CLUB AND CAMRON STANFORD HOUSE JOIN FORCES TO LIFT AFRICAN AMERICAN VOICES.

Patanisha Williams, cultural curator, and Camron-Stanford House, museum of Victorian-era Oakland, are proud to announce their new partnership. Starting in February with exhibiting the groundbreaking "Black Gold Storytellers” project. This exhibit will showcase the compelling narratives of African American Elders who undertook the momentous migration to Oakland including National Treasures: Joyce Gordon, Oscar Wright, and Ishmael Reed. The exhibit features three-time Grammy Winner, Fantastic Negrito and his family’s migration story. The BGS project was founded by the esteemed Dr. Adrienne Danyelle Oliver, dedicated to preserving and sharing these vital stories.
"Black Gold Storytellers" serves as a tribute to the resilience, courage, and rich experiences of the African American community during the migration. Esteemed Writers and artists have passionately crafted these stories, weaving together a tapestry that reflects the strength of individuals who shaped the cultural landscape of Oakland. During Women’s History Month, the exhibit will highlight all women writers, including: Judy Juanita, Audrey T. Williams, Patanisha Williams, Carla D. Williams, Amani Jade, Rashida Chase and Sarai Bordeaux.
The exhibition will open its doors on February 16, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, marking a momentous occasion for both Pata Ali Love Club and the Camron-Stanford House. Attendees will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the captivating narratives and artistic expressions of Art, Photography, and Film.
