Learn about the popular trends and fashionable customs for hand fans in Western culture during the 18th and 19th centuries through the 1920s, and view examples from the presenter’s collection.

About Our Presenter

Sahrye Cohen is a designer, costumer, and sewer who is interested in historical fashion, cosplay, and high tech fashion. She collects antique and vintage Western hand fans and is a member of the East Bay Hand Fan Guild. She lectures about fans and fashions and teaches workshops on a variety of costuming topics. Sahrye is the co-author of “Make It, Wear It: Wearable Electronics for Makers, Crafters, and Cosplayers”.
